Dr. Frances Wilson-Copp, BA Hons, MA, PhD, PG Cert. Ed.

I have been teaching Art and Art History in Gloucestershire for around 35 years. I taught at Cheltenham Grammar School (now Pates) and at Bournside School, before moving into Further and Higher education. I then lectured in Art History and Theory at the University of Gloucestershire and at Stroud College , teaching students of all ages.

For a few years I have been running a private Adult Education class which has proven to be very popular and which covers the subject in greater depth than is usually possible in a non-accredited course. I began this class in 2002 when the University of Gloucestershire closed down their Adult Education Department, and my group of students wished to continue their course elsewhere. We decided to resume in a converted barn at my home (which is well suited to the role of lecture theatre), and the class continues to be in demand.

To many students, the new location of the class has been beneficial, for its ease of access from the M5 motorway.

Because of a demand for art history courses I have decided to focus upon private lecturing and teach courses at Rendcomb and Oakridge, in addition to The Barn in Shurdington.

My courses cover Fine Art (painting and sculpture) and other related subjects such as architecture and photography, and deal with style and meaning, showing how a work relates to the society which produced it.
